Adige Cycling Tour – Nauders to Verona
9 days / 8 nights | Self-guided cycling tours
The Adige Cycle Path between Lake Resia and Lake Garda is recommended to all cyclists who want to ride carefree through almost always flat countryside against a dreamlike backdrop. Actively explore the landscape and towns of the Vinschgau Valley, the Etsch Valley and Lake Garda. The Mediterranean climate and the numerous hospitable restaurants along the way make the tour a pleasure. Cultural discoveries in Merano, Bolzano and Verona included.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival to Nauders
Handover of rental bikes (if booked) and travel documents, parking space (unguarded) included. Overnight stay at 3* or 4*-Hotel.
Day 2: Schlanders/Naturns (approx. 56/67 km / 35/40 miles)
A short way up to the lake Reschen. Along the picturesque lake to the monastery Marienkron; slightly downwards to Laatsch, Glurns and in the beautiful village Schlanders. Overnight stay at 3*-hotel.
Day 3: Meran (approx. 37/26 km / 22/19 miles)
Through the Adige valley, mainly next to the river, downwards through orchards and a breathtaking panorama to the Ortler-mountains to Meran. Nice little villages like Tschirland and impressive buildings like the castle Dornsberg are on your way. In the afternoon entrance into the thermal spa next to the hotel in Meran.
Overnight stay at 3*-hotel.
Day 4: Bozen (approx. 34 km / 21 miles)
First you cycle a short stretch on slightly hilly side roads to Nals. Then you cycle on a flat stage via Andrian to the mouth of the Adige/Eisack river near Sigmundskron Castle. From there you cycle directly into the centre of Bolzano. Botzen offers many highlights such as the Ötzi Museum, the cathedral, the Grieser Church with the Pacher Altar and much more. Overnight stay at 3* or 4*-Hotel.
Day 5: Trento (approx. 61 km / 38 miles)
To Neumarkt-Auer and the Salurner Klause. This is how you get to San Michele all’Adige and the centre of the old Council city of Trento (cathedral, castle, Neptune fountain, picturesque townscape, numerous shopping facilities, town hall, Roman finds, etc.) Overnight stay at 4*-hotel.
Day 6: Lake Garda Riva/Arco (approx. 53 km / 33 miles)
On the Adige bike trail through scenic vineyards to Rovereto (enchanting centre, monuments) and further on to the lonesome cities Mori, Lopi and finally, slightly upwards to San Giovanni. Via Torbole along the Lake Garda to Riva,
Overnight stay at 3* or 4*-hotel.
Day 7: Peschiera/Rodigo (approx. 15/48 km 9/30 miles by bicycle, 5 h by ship)
Enjoy a boat trip with fantastic views over Lake Garda. Today's destination is Peschiera with a small historic old town, a picturesque harbour and the fortress wall, which dates back to Roman times. Boat trip from Riva to Sirmeone/ already possible in the morning and leisurely bike ride to Peschiera.
Overnight stay at 3*-hotel.
Day 8: Mantua and Verona (approx. 45/20 km 28/12 miles bike, 40 minutes train)
Along the Mincio bike trail you discover many highlights of the tour. Monzambano with its castle and the well obtained older city, the historic Borghetto with the old water mills and of course the “Parco Giardiono Sigurtá (was elected as the most beautiful park of Italy and can be discovered by bike). Continue cycling direct into the center of Mantua. Individual sightseeing and by train to Verona. Overnight stay at 4*-hotel.
Day 9: end of cycle trip
Return transfer to Nauders or additional nights in Verona.

Overnight stay in very good hotels of the 3*- or 4*-category. Daily breakfast buffet; when booking half board 3-course dinner with choice of main course (not in Verona).
Reduction for children
Maximum one child in a double room with 2 full-paying adults.
0-5,9 years 100% reduction, 6-11,9 years 50% reduction, 12-14,9 years 25% reduction.
Meals
Daily breakfast buffet or large extended breakfast. For half board (NOT in Merano, Bolzano, Peschiera/Rodigo and Vero): 4 x 3-course dinner with choice of
main course (partly in restaurants close to the hotel).
Tour profile
You cycle approx. 302 km within one week. 95% of the route is on car-free cycle paths, which are well signposted. 5% of the tour runs along side roads with little traffic. The route is flat to very slightly downhill; there is a noticeable climb that stretches over 2.4 km and 85 metres in altitude.
Rental bicycles and e-bikes
The rental bikes are lightweight 7-speed hub-geared bicycles with comfortable saddles, including pannier bags on both sides for the day's luggage. If you wish, you can also reserve 21-gear bikes with freewheel at no extra cost. When booking, please indicate which bikes you prefer. The quality bikes (Schauff, Kettler, KTM) are well maintained and thus ensure worry-free bike rides. When you pick up your bike, you can try it out and the on-site staff will adjust it to your needs.
The e-bikes are 8-speed Kalkhoff bikes (Agattu Impulse or similar) with hub gears, 28" tyres, low step-in with frame heights of 46 or 50 and a daily range of about 80 km (depending on how you ride). The e-bikes have two hand brakes, no e-bikes with coaster brakes are available. For your own safety, we recommend wearing a bike helmet.
Arrival and parking
Arrival by car: Free unguarded parking at the hotel. Please do not forget the vignette for Austria.
Arrival by air: From Innsbruck airport you can reach Nauders comfortably by train/bus in approx. 2.5 h.
Arrival by train: Your destination station is Landeck-Zams. From there you can get to Nauders am Reschenpass by post bus or taxi. Bicycles are allowed on all regional trains.
Return transfer Verona - Nauders for an extra charge
Return transfer by bus (transfer from the hotel in Verona to the car park in Nauders)

Remaining days: return journey to Nauders on your own
Return transfer own bikes
Guests' own bikes can only be transported in a bike trailer from Verona to Nauders as part of the bus transfer for an additional charge (insured value up to a maximum of € 1,500). Please register the transfer of your own bikes directly when booking.
Please note: Bikes with a tyre width of more than 5 cm can only be transported on request.
Departure from the hotel is between 08:00 and 09:00. Arrival in Nauders between 13:30 and 14:00 (subject to change)
